Dan Byrne will miss Newcastle’s Champions League match due to a spinal injury

DAN BURN will be sidelined for two months due to a spinal injury, according to confirmation from Eddie Howe, The news is a major setback for Newcastle as they prepare for their upcoming Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Burn was forced to leave the field early in the second half of the match against Arsenal on Saturday, During his pre-match press conference, Howe revealed that Burn will be out for an extended period of time, although the exact duration is uncertain at this point.

Explaining the nature of the injury, Howe stated that Burn landed on his spine and has a problem at the base of his spine, This development is a significant blow for Newcastle, as Burn has been a consistent presence in the Premier League this season and has featured in all of their Champions League matches, even scoring a goal in a previous game against Paris Saint-Germain.

Since joining Newcastle from Brighton in 2022, Burn has been a key player for the club and his absence will be sorely felt, Howe emphasized that his absence will not only impact a specific position but also his ability to play as a centre-back.

Newcastle is currently third in their Champions League group, tied on points with PSG, Although they were narrowly defeated by Dortmund in their previous European fixture, a victory in Germany could propel them back to the top of the group, setting them up for their final two matches.
