Pep Guardiola expressed relief that Jurgen Klopp has announced his departure as Liverpool manager, and suggested that he may extend his contract with Manchester City.

Klopp will step down at the end of the season after an illustrious tenure of nine years at Anfield during which Liverpool secured victories in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

The German manager’s departure will mark the end of an era, as Liverpool has been the primary competitor to Guardiola’s City during Klopp’s time in England. Guardiola acknowledged that he will feel relieved to no longer face his bitter rival on the field.

In light of the announcement, Klopp admitted that he no longer has the energy to continue as Liverpool boss.

Conversely, Guardiola hinted that he has not ruled out extending his contract at the Etihad Stadium, despite it currently being set to end in 2025. He even playfully suggested that he expects to meet Klopp on the touchline again, despite Klopp’s comments implying that he may be finished managing.

Guardiola expressed confidence in Klopp’s eventual return to the world of football, citing his energy and personality as valuable assets. Guardiola also voiced his intent to continue managing for at least another year, with the possibility of extending.
