Manchester City narrowly holds off Luton in hard-fought comeback victory
Manchester City fought back from a goal down at half-time to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Luton in the Premier League. The champions, missing key players Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku, faced a tough battle but managed to overcome Luton’s brave fight.
Elijah Adebayo’s goal for Luton just before half-time set the stage for a potential upset, but City came alive in the second half. Goals from Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish turned the game around in a matter of minutes, narrowly avoiding a shock defeat.
City came out strong from the beginning, applying pressure and creating scoring opportunities. Despite Luton’s resilient defense, City kept pushing forward, with Phil Foden and Silva coming close to finding the net.
While Luton held their own for much of the game, Barkley’s mistake in midfield led to Rodri’s drive at the defense, setting up Silva’s equalizer. Grealish then capitalized on a well-placed cross from Alvarez to put City ahead.
Luton continued to fight until the final whistle, with Barkley almost finding an equalizer. However, City managed to hold on and secure a much-needed victory to end their winless streak.
