West Ham gifts Crystal Palace equaliser before Odsonne Edouard secures point

West Ham’s defense let them down in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at the London Stadium. Despite taking the lead with a great goal from Mohammed Kudus, a blunder from Konstantinos Mavropanos allowed Crystal Palace to equalize. The Hammers’ inability to keep a clean sheet continues to haunt them, as they have only managed one in the Premier League this season.

However, Palace also missed several opportunities to score, even without the attacking threat of Eberechi Eze. Joachim Andersen and Odsonne Edouard went close to scoring, but it was Kudus who put West Ham ahead with a well-taken shot.

Jarrod Bowen could have doubled West Ham’s lead, but his lob attempt was saved by Palace’s keeper Sam Johnstone. Palace continued to push for an equalizer and finally found it when Mavropanos made a costly mistake with a back-pass. Edouard took advantage of the error and scored the equalizer.

In stoppage time, Bowen had a chance to win it for West Ham, but his header was stopped by Johnstone. The draw ended West Ham’s chances of securing a fifth straight win in all competitions.
