Guardiola Gives Injury Update on Kevin de Bruyne and Confirms John Stones’ Return to Boost Man City

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kevin de Bruyne will not be joining Manchester City in the Club World Cup, as he is unlikely to play for the team again in 2023. De Bruyne has been out of the game since August due to a hamstring injury that required surgery. City had hoped for his return in December, but De Bruyne himself admitted that he might not come back until after the new year. Guardiola has accepted this and stated that De Bruyne will not be in the squad for the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Despite the setback, Guardiola remains supportive of De Bruyne’s recovery process and insists that the midfielder does not need rest, but rather time to properly recover. Although City will have to face RB Leipzig without De Bruyne, Guardiola is hopeful for the return of John Stones, who may make a substitute appearance in the upcoming game.

As for Guardiola’s future with the team, he has not made any commitments beyond the next 18 months of his contract. He remains focused on the present and has expressed his desire for the team’s success, while leaving his long-term plans open-ended.
