Newcastle’s Gameplan Outshines Chelsea as They Return to the Drawing Board

The Chelsea renaissance was short-lived. Their loss at St James’ Park didn’t bring shame, but Newcastle didn’t earn their victory through an extraordinary display. Chelsea’s Mauricio Pochettino team was doing well until the second half, but two quick goals and a red card led to their downfall. This defeat will be a test for Pochettino.

It was clear that Chelsea had the upper hand at the beginning of the match, with their impressive talent on the bench. However, Newcastle’s strength in their starting 11, alongside big-money signings, created a formidable team. Alexander Isak, especially, has a natural talent that others envy. His goal and an assist from the youngest player on the team put Newcastle ahead early in the match.

Despite Sterling’s goal for Chelsea, they seemed in control. But quickly, their momentum collapsed. Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton were able to take advantage of mistakes from the Chelsea defense, leading to Newcastle’s victory. Reece James’s dismissal only made things worse for Chelsea, with Newcastle scoring a fourth goal late in the game.

Chelsea has much to work on to become a unified team, but Pochettino is gradually improving the lineup. On the other hand, Newcastle has a well-prepared strategy and it’s clear that Eddie Howe and his staff put in thorough preparations. This defeat might be a setback for Chelsea, but it’s still early, and Pochettino will have more chances to prove his coaching prowess.
