Barcelona to Play Friendly Match Against América in Dallas in December

Barcelona has announced a friendly match against Club América in Dallas on Dec. 21, marking the team’s last game before their winter break. This will be only the second time that Barcelona have played a friendly during the December window, with proceeds from the game going towards raising funds for the victims of Hurricane Otis. América, who have secured first place in the 2023 Apertura standings, feature former Barça midfielder Jonathan dos Santos and have won more Liga MX titles than any other club. This match presents an exciting opportunity for fans to see top-level soccer and support a worthy cause at the same time.
Barcelona has announced that they will be facing Mexican soccer powerhouse Club América in a friendly match at Dallas’ Cotton Bowl on Dec. 21, marking their last game before the winter break. The match is scheduled just one day after Barcelona hosts Almería in LaLiga action. This upcoming friendly will mark only the second time Barcelona has played a friendly during the December window, with the previous occurrence being in Dec. 2021 when the club traveled to Saudi Arabia to play Boca Juniors.

Sources had previously reported to ESPN that the proposed friendly in the U.S. was under evaluation by the coaching staff for either Dec. 21 or 22, and coach Xavi Hernandez was supportive of these dates given the club’s need to generate revenue. This match will be Barcelona’s second visit to the Cotton Bowl stadium, following their friendly against Juventus in the summer of 2022.

Proceeds from the game will be used to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Otis that struck Acapulco last month, with América, who currently hold the top spot in the 2023 Apertura standings, set to participate in the playoffs beginning later this month.
