Title: “Corinthians Coach Oddly Tries to Invade Referee’s Room During Match Against Gremio (Video)” Revised Title: “Corinthians Coach’s Strange Attempt to Enter Referee’s Room During Gremio Match (Video)”

The Brazilian newspaper “O GLOBO” revealed details of an attempt by Corinthians’ football manager, Alessandro Nunes, to invade the VAR referee room during his team’s match against Gremio. The incident took place at the Arena do Gremio stadium in the thirty-fourth round of the Brazilian league. Nunes was reportedly angry at the referee’s decision not to award a penalty to Corinthians’ player Mathias Bedo at the beginning of the match, and later on for the red card given to Bruno Mendez in the tenth minute of the game.

Alessandro Nunes, along with other Corinthians staff, tried to enter the VAR room during the first half but failed. They later attacked a journalist who was documenting the events. After the match, Nunes stated, “This was my way of protesting against the absurdity of the VAR referee. It does not help the field referee. There was a clear penalty, how long will we continue to see these mistakes?”

Nunes continued, “Years go by, presidents of the referees’ committee change, but we still see the same mistakes. I am not excusing my actions, I made a mistake and my behavior was inappropriate. But what is more inappropriate and unfortunate is that the VAR referee remains in front of the screen, watching the event several times, and not helping the field referee. We just want equality.”
