Karim Benzema achieves a record not seen in two years

Frenchman Karim Benzema led the Al-Ittihad team to a resounding victory, achieving new record numbers with the Dean’s shirt.

Al-Ittihad won 4-2 against Abha, on a night of glory for the French striker, who directly contributed to the Dean’s quartet.

Benzema is the first player to contribute to 4 goals with Al-Ittihad, scoring a hat-trick in the 38th, 68th, and 69th minutes, as well as assisting Igor Coronado’s goal in the 54th minute.

Benzema has become the first player to contribute to 4 goals for Al-Ittihad in a single match in the Saudi league.

Igor Coronado was the last player to contribute to 4 goals for the Dean in a single league match, also against Abha, scoring one goal and assisting 3 others.

Benzema has now contributed to 13 goals for Al-Ittihad, scoring 9 and assisting 4.

Benzema said after his first hat-trick with Al-Ittihad in statements to SSC channel: “At first, our goal was to win and return to the victories, and I thank the management for the support in the difficult circumstances we have been through.”

He added: “I am happy to score a hat-trick, assist a goal, and help the team win today. The Nuno Santo era is now behind us, and we have a break period where we will work to correct the situation.”

Al-Ittihad achieved its first win after 5 consecutive failures in the Saudi league, after losing to Al-Ahli and Al-Shabab, and drawing with Al-Faisaly, Al-Taawoun, and Al-Hazm.

The Dean raised its tally to 24 points to occupy the fifth place in the standings, while Abha remained at 13 points in thirteenth place.
