Hasan Khalifa, the interim head coach of the Al-Ittihad Jeddah team, revealed that the French midfielder N’Golo Kante suffered an injury during the match against Abha, which ended with Al-Ittihad’s victory with four goals to one, on Friday evening at Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium, as part of the Saudi League competitions.

Khalifa said in the press conference after the match: “Kante was in pain from the injury between halves, and insisted on participating in the second half, but he requested to be substituted after the fourth goal was scored.”

He added: “The return of Fabien and Coronado was the secret of Al-Ittihad’s victory today, in addition to the players’ solidarity with the club’s management, which contributed to achieving the victory. I would like to thank the former coach Nuno Santo and wish him success.”

Al-Ittihad Jeddah had regained its winning streak through a 4-2 victory over Abha, thanks to the brilliance of the French star Karim Benzema, in the team’s first match after the dismissal of the Portuguese coach Nuno Santo.

Al-Ittihad had lost its last two matches against Al-Shabab in the Saudi League and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in the AFC Champions League, before achieving victory today thanks to a goal from Coronado and a hat-trick from Karim Benzema, moving up to fifth place in the league table.
